Transparent Amethyst

Purchased by the Truman Medical Center Charitable Foundation for their permanent collection.

Painted for my gallery show entitled, Sacred Color, this work is meant to invoke the majesty of the gorgeous, violet-colored gemstone. The stone is part of royal collections from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels. When I painted this, I was envisioning a sparkling, almost-landscape, of amber fields and lush, purple skies. The hint of Tourmaline at the very top is a glimpse toward a sea. But, you will see your own visions in this piece.
